In a letter to the Minister of Health and the Director General of Health Dr de Bres expresses concern that a wave of “anti transgender hate” has come to New Zealand. In Dr de Bres’ view anti transgender hate motivates those seeking to restrict puberty blockers and this hatred can also be found “within the Ministry of Health”. Dr de Bres requests a meeting but the Director General of Health was unable to meet at that time.

In a second letter a month later, Dr de Bres writes to Minister of Health advertising the publication of the Project Village information sheets on puberty blockers. Appearing to think her work will be influential and lacking knowledge of the systematic review process, Dr de Bres asks that the information sheets to be passed on to the Ministry’s evidence brief team. Dr de Bres names Dr Rachel Johnson as the first listed author of the information sheets. Dr Johnson would later deny the authorship of the information sheets to avoid regulations requiring medical professionals be “truthful and balanced”.
